Inclusion
Sleepy Hollow Preschool has been at the forefront of the movement toward
inclusive preschool education because of the tremendous benefit
inclusion affords to all children, particularly at this early age.
SHPS provides a social and educational environment where children with and without
disabilities play and learn together. For those with special needs,
this approach exposes them to stimulating and
positive peer models and a wider range of learning experiences than they would
have in a non-inclusive school. For those without disabilities,
inclusion brings them into day-to-day contact with children who may have different
abilities and talents, but who have the same need and capacity for love, support,
fun and friendship.
Sleepy Hollow has been honored by the Family Friends of Northern Virginia
for providing an environment that welcomes children of all abilities.
